In the course of researching best sellers, reader reviews, editorial reviews, excerpts, award winners and so on to make my own recommended book by an author choices to accompany the Librarian Recommendations, I sometimes came across books which sounded particularly interesting, often far from the fare one might expect from the writer.
I also "discover" books like these while browsing at the public library and at the "bricks and mortar" bookstores - Amazon.com is a great place to buy books, but there is a lot to be said for visiting your local bookstores, big or small, independent or chain, new or used.
Conversations in chat or real life, mentions in the newspapers, in news and features online, and radio interviews, also send me looking for more information, to decide whether the book belongs on my "Have to read it - someday" list.
The group below is a diverse lot; I think you will enjoy these.
