Think late 60's into the 70's, groupies like the Plaster Casters... but these "sisters"
collected polaroids of the stars they did. What happens when one becomes a
proper socialite married to a lawyer / politician, the other a bartender who
still lives in that past, but loses her job, and looks the other up? Maybe a
few lessons to be learned, but mostly a fun movie, even if you didn't live
through the era.

- Woody Allen. Oh, you want plot and more? My impression is that people like him
or they don't, so all you have to say is it's one of his films. Here he
plays a washed up hypochondriac film director on a comeback, who
develops a case of psychosomatic blindness, and with the aid of a few
who know, directs a big budget picture... sightless. Some really funny
stuff - but still, it helps to be a Woody Allen fan.

Frailty OFFICIAL SITE - I'm not a fan of this genre, but this is not your typical horror flick. Blood and gore are hinted at more than shown, and there's more of a plot than just a series of episodes. In a flashback telling of the tale to an FBI agent, one son tells of his dad's having been visited by an angel to enlist him in demon slaying and how the dad tried to involve his two sons. I'd call it suspense rather than horror, and though much is predictable, there are just enough twists to carry it. Stars Matthew McConaughey and Bill Paxton. Paxton also directed it. SITE - I read the Dumas novel as a pre-teen in the
Classics Illustrated version, but don't recall seeing this as a movie before,
though it's been done a dozen times. This version has the perfect balance of
drama, romance, suspense, humor and adventure. Guess you might say I liked it
a lot - though I wasn't expecting to. James Caviezel, Richard Harris, Guy
Pearce and Luis Guzman are among the more recognizable cast members.

Romance, tragedy, family relationships. A thinking movie, so unfortunately not going to be a blockbuster, though may get another shot after the Oscar nominations and later awards roll in for it. TRAILER ... buy the book at Amazon ... buy the soundtrack at Amazon Death to Smoochy OFFICIAL SITE - I like Danny De Vito's acting; but each movie he directs is worse than the one before. Brilliant performances by Robin Williams, Edward Norton, John Stewart, De Vito and others are not enough to save this movie. You might even want to think twice about rental when it comes out on video - which will likely be swift.

Big Trouble OFFICIAL SITE - Sorta slapstick, sorta not... Tim Allen, Rene Russo, Janeane Garofalo and the rest of the cast play the gags pretty straight. Dave Barry (yeah, the one you read each Sunday) wrote the book it was based on - that should give you an idea of the zaniness. Might want to wait until nothing better is playing... or for the video or DVD. Sidewalks of New York OFFICIAL SITE

Zilch. Bill Murray portrays Frank, a genuine slob, in whose body Osmosis Jones, a white blood cell, helps fight the battle against bacterial and viral invaders. Most of the movie is animation; both that and the live action segments contain typical Farrelly brothers gross out material, but lack the humor of some of their earlier work. There's certainly a question about who they think their audience is this time - ads and the animation would have you think it was a kids movie - clearly not! - yet it's too juvenile for many adults. The "health education" marketing is also certainly flawed. I can't say enough bad things about this movie. I will offer this advice - skip it.
