I've been a soccer fan since I first learned and played the game in the early 60's. My interest in the game was renewed in the early 80's when my daughters started playing and before long I was coaching and othewise assisting. Many people have been introduced to the game through their children's participation in the game. Cable TV sports channels may have prodded the networks to step up their soccer coverage, but it seems that one still has better odds catching a game on some of the foreign language stations where they are available. I shouldn't complain, though - regardless of why, most of us can catch games on network or cable stations regularly, and in more and more markets, can go to pro and semi-pro games, indoor, outdoor, and in just a few places, both. And of course, we can still catch the kid's games.
